First-year students at UNC Chapel Hill are required to live in on-campus residence halls during the entirety of their first academic year.

Skywatching, Starry Nights, and Scout workshops are some of the educational programs available to adolescents and teens.

Chapel Hill Transit provides public transportation throughout Chapel Hill, between UNC, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. For daytime riders, park-and-ride lots are available. On weekdays, the U and RU routes run every 10 to 15 minutes around UNC's campus, with service altered on weekends and during UNC academic breaks.
