Transportation In Los Angeles

The main way to get around Los Angeles is by car, because of the sheer size of the city; you can rent a car at Los Angeles International Airport or once you get into the city for about $40 to $60 per day. As an international student, you might not have that option, so you can use other means of public transportation. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority operates about 170 bus lines through the city, with their schedules provided on the system's Maps & Timetables page. You can purchase a one- or seven-day pass for $7 or $25 each or pay the $1.75 one-way fare with a TAP card. You will also find six color-coded Metro lines that run through the county. Although a bit expensive, traveling by taxi is also another option for getting around the city.
