Student Accommodation in College Station

The city of College Station in Texas got its start with the opening of the state's oldest higher education institution, Texas A&M University. Students in the university call themselves "Aggies", and that's why the city was called "Aggieland". College Station is famous for its sports and excellent old southern hospitality. It's divided into three districts; Wellborn, Wolf Pen Creek, and Northgate. Wellborn is the newest district while Wolf Pen Creek is commercial with an amphitheatre, a lake, and an entertainment area. Northgate is a mix of culture, entertainment, and businesses; perfect for a night out with friends.

College Station is located in Brazos County east of Texas in the centre of Texas Triangle. It's less than two hours away from Houston and 87 miles away from Austin. The climate in College Station is subtropical with mild winters not lasting more than two months. The summers are hot and humid, so make sure you have light clothes and sandals. There could be occasional rainfall so pack an umbrella just in case.

If you intend to stay in a student housing in College Station, you must visit the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum where you'll find a replica of the Oval Office and the Berlin Wall with a section for Barbra Bush, the former first lady. Experience the finest of Texan theatre at The Theatre Company and attend live music shows every month at First Friday. Get rid of the summer heat at Lake Bryan with jet skiing, ice-cold refreshments, and live weekend performances. Research Park is a great place to take a morning stroll or study by the pond. Make sure to catch a game at Kyle Field stadium and don't miss the best place to eat in College Station, Dixie Chicken.

If you're planning to study at College Station, then the obvious choice for a university would be the city's star, Texas A&M University. It was founded in 1876, and it takes an impressive 5,200 acres of space. The social scene inside the university is lively, with over 1000 societies and organizations to choose from.  The school is known to be a research institution, and it has the only veterinary medicine school in Texas. You will easily find multiple student accommodations around it, as well.

Getting around the city is usually done by the local bus service Aggie Spirit with routes on and off-campus. Most students prefer cycling, and the city accommodates them with safe lanes and many rental and repair shops. In fact, the city was one of the three Texan cities officially labelled a Bicycle Friendly Community in 2011.
