Boynton Beach Etymology - Where Did Boynton Beach Get Its name? 

The town was renamed Boynton after its incorporation in 1920. The name "Boynton Beach" was originally adopted in 1931 by a hamlet that had separated from the Town of Boynton. That neighbourhood was renamed "Ocean Ridge" in 1939, and the Town of Boynton was renamed "Boynton Beach" in 1941. The name Boyton was referring to Nathan Boynton, a veteran American Civil War major.
