Why Study at Nottingham Trent University
NTU is a public research university and the ninth-largest university in the UK. The university was formed by merging many academic institutions initially from the Nottingham Government School of Design established in 1843. One hundred twelve years later, Nottingham and District Technical College were founded. Nottingham Regional College of Technology was established in 1958. Finally, in 1959, the Nottingham College of Education was established.
In 1964, Nottingham Regional College opened and it was linked to the original Nottingham College of Design in 1966, becoming 'Trent Polytechnic' in 1970. It then merged with Nottingham College of Education in 1975. In 1992, the Polytechnics and some higher education colleges officially became independent universities. At this stage, Trent Polytechnic became Nottingham Trent University.
According to the Times Higher Education, Nottingham Trent University was granted the university of the year award in 2017.
