The University of Reading- Whiteknights Campus is the main and biggest campus of the university. It gets its name from the nickname of the 13th-century knight John De Erleigh IV, known as the 'White Knight'. For the 8th year in a row, the Whiteknights campus was named one of the best green spaces in the UK in the 2017 Green Flag People's Choice awards. The campus went on to win it for the 9th,10th, and 11th time as well.
The University of Reading, formerly known as University College, Reading, was established in 1892. It has four main campuses, one of which is the Whiteknights Campus. It was the only new university established in the United Kingdom between the two world wars, receiving university status in 1926.
Reading was ranked 35th in the UK among multi-faculty universities for research quality (GPA) and 28th for Research Power in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. In sum, 98% of the University's research is deemed "internationally recognised," 78% "internationally excellent," and 27% "world-leading."
Students can choose from a variety of programmes at the University of Reading's Whiteknights Campus. It offers Undergraduate Courses, Foundation Programs, and Integrated Master's Courses, as well as Master's and Postgraduate Research Programs. Ancient History, English Language and Applied Linguistics, Meteorology and Climate, and other undergraduate courses are available. There are two sorts of foundation programmes: domestic foundation programmes and international foundation programmes. They prepare students for their desired undergraduate degree's first year of study. Accounting, Energy and Environmental Engineering, and Real Estate and Planning are some of the areas of research for postgraduate research.
The campus is a large one with many facilities, amenities, and services. It is 321 acres wide and features fully-equipped lecture halls, a massive library, science laboratories, the Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging, the Cole Museum of Zoology, the Harris Garden, the Herbarium, and farms. Other amenities include halls of residence, car parks, cafes and restaurants, a students’ union, and a sports centre.
The campus has a variety of accommodation alternatives, ranging from self-catered to catered. There are ensuite rooms and shared rooms in both types of accommodation. The accommodation is all-inclusive and includes high-speed Wi-Fi, a social calendar, contents insurance, maintenance, communal cleaning, CCTV, a dedicated on-site staff, social spaces, and study areas, among other amenities and services.
