The London Road Campus, University of Reading is the original campus of the university. It was established in 1904 and has undergone several major renovations since.
The University of Reading was founded in 1892 and was previously known as University College, Reading. It has four major campuses, including that of London Road. It was granted university status in 1926 and was the only new university to be created in the United Kingdom between the two world wars.
In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, Reading was placed 35th in the UK among multi-faculty institutions for research quality (GPA) and 28th for Research Power. In sum, 98% of the University's research is deemed "internationally recognized," 78% "internationally excellent," and 27% "world-leading."
The London Road Campus, University of Reading has many programmes for students. It offers Undergraduate Courses, Foundation Programmes, and Integrated master's Courses plus Postgraduate Programmes which include Master's Programmes and Postgraduate Research. Undergraduate Courses include Ancient History, English Language and Applied Linguistics, Meteorology and Climate…etc. Foundation Programmes are of two types: Foundation Programmes and International Foundation Programme. They prepare students for the entry of the first year of their desired undergraduate degree. As for Integrated Master’s Courses, they are available on a variety of subjects which include Architectural Engineering, Mathematics, Speech and Language Therapy…etc. Master’s Programmes are also available on campus; they include Construction Management and Engineering, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Project Management…etc. When it comes to Postgraduate Research, the areas of research include Accounting, Energy and Environmental Engineering, and Real Estate and Planning.
The campus has plenty of amenities and services students can benefit from. It has art facilities, a theatre, a student common room, a reception, a Student Support Centre, and staff offices. Other amenities include a lecture theatre and teaching space, a gymnasium, a music studio, a senior common room, the Great Hall, security, and the Clock Tower Memorial. Furthermore, the campus has a bar/cafe that serves hot and cold food
The campus offers plenty of accommodation options ranging from self-catered accommodation to catered accommodation. Both accommodation types have ensuite rooms and shared rooms. The accommodation is all-inclusive and offers many facilities and services which include high-speed Wi-Fi, a social calendar, contents insurance, maintenance, communal cleaning, CCTV, a dedicated on-site staff, social spaces, and study areas.
