The university was established in 1992, after a merger of four existing colleges across the city of Liverpool to be the City of Liverpool Community College. The College was renamed Liverpool College at the end of 2013. The College is situated on many sites throughout the city centre. In response to a reduction in funding provided by the Central Government, Community-based provision was dismantled. The only community-based requirement is likely to be the ESOL (English for speakers of other languages).

Currently, Liverpool University serves more than one-third of all 16 to 18-year-olds in Liverpool and trains nearly 12,000 students in 500 undergraduate and vocational training courses a year. The college collaborates with local training agencies and employers in the private, public, and voluntary sectors to offer the broadest spectrum and practical industry-leading training courses.

The college's mission is to provide all Liverpool Region's citizens and companies with high-quality education by offering development opportunities. With these principles in mind, including the most rigorous teaching and learning criteria, you will be motivated to optimize your ability; you will aspire to be the very best, work together to develop you sustainably, you will constantly explore fresh ideas and strategies that will help you evolve, incorporate inclusiveness, equity and diversity. Academic Courses

The college offers standard and national graduates diplomas and higher degrees, including GCSEs and A-level courses. It also offers basic and master courses. Courses include English and Humanities, GCSEs, A-levels, Science, Access to Science/Health, Business Studies, Higher Education Courses, and Teacher Education courses. Furthermore, the college offers specialized areas such as Plastering, Joinery, Building services, Electrical and gas installation, Plumbing, Motor Vehicle Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Manufacturing.

A large number of services and facilities are available, including a Microsoft Systems Manager, a Microsoft Office specialist and a CISCO CCNA. This includes students who would like to boost or expand their current career opportunities.
