Where Does the Name Come From?

Hyderabad is one of the most famous cities in India. Its name holds an important historical and linguistic significance as it comes from two words in Urdu, “Hyder” which means “Lion” and “Abad” which means “City”; together they form “Lion’s City” which was named after the Muslim Chalif Ali Ibn Abi Talib. Hyderabad is the capital and largest city of the south-central Indian state of Telangana.

Hyderabad Weather

Temperature:

India means tropical, and tropical means humid rainy summers, and moderate winters. Hyderabad weather varies between 30:40 °C in the summertime - which is the majority of the year - and between 15 to 32 °C in the wintertime, which is roughly three months (December - January - February).

What to Pack and The Local Timing:

Packing heavy clothes won’t really do anything, keep it simple and pack the basics. UTC/GMT +5:30 is the local timing, keep that in mind when booking your flights to Hyderabad.

Is Hyderabad Rural or Urban?

The city holds both rural and urban within its borders, with a hilly nature surrounding it. In 1978, it was split into two main districts, the urban one is called “Hyderabad District “, and the rural one was annexed to the “Ranga Reddy District”. So having your student accommodation in Hyderabad will be the perfect buffer between urban life and nature getaways on the weekends.
