Durham University Business School consists of three departments which are the Department of Accounting, the Department of Economics and Finance, and the Department of Management and Marketing. Durham University Business School also offers MBA programmes, Masters, DBA, and PhD programmes.
The Department of Accounting’s research has been published in a range of quality journals. The department aspires to increase the understanding of economic, social, and political interactions arising through the practice of accounting and auditing. It has a number of subjects available such as financial reporting and disclosure, corporate governance, auditing quality, corporate ownership structure, management accounting, public accounting, the accountancy profession, accounting history, social and environmental accounting, Islamic accounting, and accounting education.
The Department of Economics and Finance has a long history of internationally recognised economics research and it supports some of the UK's major businesses and institutions. Its research includes a wide range of topics including economic growth and policy, quantitative research in financial economics, behavioural economics and finance, and environmental and energy economics. The department works with a number of businesses and government institutions including the Federal Reserve Bank, Bank of England, UK Trade & Investment, BIS, and the UK parliament. It also collaborates and arranges internal and external research seminar series, PhD student workshops, and conferences.
The Department of Management and Marketing consists of a diverse and dynamic group of about 70 academics who conduct research with impact and teach courses leading business thinking. Their work includes many aspects of business activity such as leadership, international business, operations and innovation management, human resource management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and organization behaviour. The department offers courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the main management fields of organisational behaviour, strategy, marketing, leadership, public management, HRM, entrepreneurship, operations, and international business. It delivers undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education courses (part-time and online) with modules that span all of these areas.
