Departments and Courses

Cardiff Metropolitan has five academic schools which are the School of Art & Design, the School of Education & Social Policy, the School of Management, the School of Sport & Health Sciences, and the School of Technologies. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

Undergraduate courses include a wide variety of courses to suit all students’ interests such as Accounting & Finance - BA (Hons), Advertising and Marketing Management - BA (Hons), Applied Social Policy - BSc (Hons), Biomedical Sciences with Health, Exercise & Nutrition - BSc (Hons), Business & Management (Sustainability) - BA (Hons), and many more. 

Moreover, a number of postgraduate and Master’s Degree courses are offered at Cardiff Metropolitan and the university offers Cardiff Metropolitan alumni a 25% discount when enrolling for postgraduate courses. These postgraduate courses include Advanced Practice (with specialist pathways) - MSc/PgD/PgC, Master of Research (Biomedical Sciences) - MRes/PgC, Creative Enterprise and Innovation - MA/PgD/PgC, Dental Technology – MSc/PgD/PgC (Distance Learning), and more.

University Facilities and Student Life

Cardiff Metropolitan has a Students’ Union that works on supporting the students and helping them enjoy sports, activities, volunteering, and workshops. Student services are also offered in form of counselling and advice regarding disability, wellbeing, money, and dyslexia. 

Cardiff Metropolitan University Sport

Cardiff Metropolitan is considered to be one of the leading universities for student sport in the UK. Cardiff Metropolitan Sport provides excellent sports facilities and a wide range of activities for everyone from elite athletes to staff, students, and the community. The university also offers a wide variety of junior sports activities. Cardiff Metropolitan Sports facilities include Archers' Arena, Met Active- Cyncoed which is a gym developed for both disabled and able-bodied students, Dance Studio, National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC), Outdoor Athletics Facility, AstroTurf, Studio One and Spin Studio, Sports Hall, Squash Courts, Swimming Pool, Syd Aaron Gymnasium, Tennis Centre, Football Pitches, and Rugby Pitches.

Cardiff Metropolitan has around 1,000 study bedrooms located at the Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn campuses and around 600 private en-suite halls of residence. There are weekly free yoga classes, book clubs, vintage big-screen gaming, running classes, and quiz nights offered at Cardiff Metropolitan University accommodation. Cardiff Metropolitan University accommodation also offers catering services and they also offer catering services for students with special diets. Cardiff Metropolitan halls of residence are provided by a team of trained student wardens, and evening and weekend duty rotas to ensure that a student warden or a member of staff is always available to deal with enquires or emergencies. 

Cardiff Metropolitan University Accommodation for Students with Disabilities

Both Plas Gwyn and Cyncoed campuses include rooms for students with disabilities who require adapted rooms, Liberty Court includes two studio flats that are suitable for students with physical disabilities, Liberty Fields include wheelchair-friendly flats, and other units are also suitable for usage by students with physical disabilities. 

Cardiff Metropolitan University Accommodation 

The Accommodation Service at Cardiff Metropolitan helps students with their transition from on-campus accommodation to private accommodation; in addition to helping allocate students in halls, the Service also helps students find suitable accommodation off-campus. The university has a list of private houses available for students to rent and many of the landlords on this list have worked with the university for many years and are accredited through Landlord Accreditation Wales.
