Located only four miles from Brighton seafront on the edge of the South Downs National Park, The University of Brighton - Falmer Campus has around 7,000 students. It’s ideally located three miles from Brighton city centre, adjacent to Falmer railway station and the Falmer Stadium. The Brighton city centre has an interesting mix of theatres, comedy and live music venues, pubs, and clubs. During the summer, the beach is full of activities and events such as BBQs and picnics on the beach. Art enthusiasts will enjoy England’s biggest arts festival in May each year, the Royal Pavilion, as well as a wide range of galleries and events.
The campus houses the university’s School of Applied Social Science, School of Humanities (literature, language and linguistics), School of Health Sciences, International Health Development and Research Centre, Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Research, Social Science Policy and Research Centre, Education Research Centre, the Centre for Learning and Teaching, School of Education, and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
The Falmer campus offers various facilities that ensure students get the best learning and social experience. It has the Falmer library, computer rooms, a floodlit astroturf football pitch, a sports centre with a fitness suite, netball and tennis courts, a sports hall with six badminton courts, and two activity studios. As for leisure facilities, there is the Westlain canteen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Living Room Cafe, offering a variety of sandwiches, cake, and snacks, and the Atrium Cafe with hot cups of coffee for energy to last students a whole day of lectures.
There is a wide range of University of Brighton - Falmer Campus student accommodation offered by the university for all students. All university halls are self-catered and they are Cliffe, Coastland, Firle, Framfield and Kingston, Great Wilkins, Highview, Hillside, The Hub, Paddock Field, Selsey and Chalvington, Upland, and Woodland and Downland. The rent in all university halls includes contents insurance, all-inclusive utility bills, 24/7 security and support, and cleaning of communal areas.
Most university halls offer single rooms in 6-8 bedroom flats for a 39 weeks contract length. Framfield has the option of a shared room while Great Wilkins offers couples flats. Highview offers the option of booking a self-contained studio and Hillside offers en-suite rooms in 8-bedroom flats. The hub offers their single rooms for a longer contract length of 50 weeks. Upland university hall also has both single and en-suite room options.
