About St Mungo's Roost

St Mungo's is a student housing in Glasgow that offers en-suite and studio rooms. There is only one difference between the two types of rooms. While studios are self-contained and come with their private kitchens, en-suite rooms lack them and instead, students will get access to a shared kitchen and dining area.

-

Both types of rooms feature a comfy double bed, plenty of under-bed storage, a study area, a wardrobe and a private bathroom. En-suites come in Bronze, Silver and Gold; while studios come in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

-

The facilities at St Mungo's include a spacious communal lounge, a quiet study room, and an on-site gym with hi-tech equipment and air conditioning. There is also a modern cinema room and an outdoor courtyard & garden which you can enjoy during the warm, summer evenings.

-

The property also offers superfast Wi-Fi, secured deposit and free contents insurance. It has bike storage, on-site laundry facilities, on-site staff to help you during your stay 24/7 and it offers an exciting social calendar throughout the whole year.

-

St Mungo’s offers Glasgow city centre living at its best. One of the main shopping thoroughfares in Glasgow, Buchanan St, which is a buzzing strip with hundreds of restaurants, cafes and shops is within your reach. When you feel like taking your mind off of studying, go enjoy the greenery at George Square, or catch a movie at Cineworld Cinema. Housed in an iconic building located in the heart of Glasgow, The Gallery of Modern Art uses modern art to inspire an exchange of powerful ideas about life and human experiences.

Cancellation Policy

Bookings made before 1st August:

7-Day Cooling Off Period

If you decide to cancel your accommodation booking within 7 days of accepting your tenancy agreement, you will receive a full refund of your booking fee.

If you secure your accommodation and then cancel it due to the following reasons:

  • Failure to receive grades (all academic years)
  • Failure to obtain a VISA (all academic years)
  • Studying in an alternative City

Official written evidence from the University (and/or UCAS/relevant VISA authorities) must be sent directly to the Property Team within 3 calendar days of the results or decision being published. If sufficient evidence is provided, you will be eligible for release from the tenancy agreement and the full booking fee will be returned.

If none of the above reasons is applicable, you will be required to find a replacement person to take over your tenancy. Any bookings made after 1st August will have a 24hr cooling off period

After Cooling Off Period

Students can cancel after the cooling-off period for the following reasons:

  • Failure to receive grades
  • Failure to obtain a visa
  • Studying in an alternative city
  • The pre-sessional English language course required to take up their university place is cancelled
  • Government travel restrictions prevent them from travelling to the UK.
  • They are enrolled on a face-to-face course, and the University delays the start of the course.

Bookings made on or after 1st August 2020

If you book your accommodation after 1st August 2020, your cooling-off period will reduce to 24 hours only from the point of acceptance. If you cancel your booking within these 24 hours, your full deposit will be returned. Should you wish to cancel after these 24 hours, the previous procedures will apply depending on your circumstances.

COVID Update

We will seek to delay the start of the tenancy for any new residents who were due to arrive in the UK, but cannot check-in because of flight cancellations, visa delays or travel restrictions.

For residents who have already checked in and can’t return to their Student Roost home because of the restrictions in the UK, we’re pleased to offer a discount of up to 6 weeks’ rent. This will largely affect UK domestic students, but may also affect some international students who travelled home for the holidays.

The homeliest student flats we've ever lived in! All of the staff members are extremely friendly and they have been nothing but exceptional towards myself and my group of friends who are returning to the building for our last year at university. Ever since leaving we have always compared our other flats to the one we had when we lived here, wishing we still lived here. Last year we lived in Collegelands and the experience did not nearly compare. There was not the same homely and welcoming vibe in the building like there is at this student roost. Every time we walked into the building there was always a smiling and welcoming face, which really does separate this building from the rest. The only reason for leaving was because the price had gone up for the next year and it was too much for us to afford. But still on several occasions (while living elsewhere) we returned to catch up with the assistant manager Nadia and receptionist Gary. Since returning we have now become good friends with the new receptionist Darryl and housekeeper Sheila. If we've ever needed any help at all, they've always been more than happy to lend a helping hand. We can't stress enough how much we love living in this building and how well we get on with the people inside of it. The best year of university for us was living in this building, and we are all hoping that this next year will top that even further. Hands down the best student building in Glasgow city centre! (even though it is a little on the pricey side)

Still waiting on my deposit. The company has been unresponsive. It's been four months.

Been there for 4 months, what I've felt was the staffs were very kind and helpful and facilities are managed well in considering the coronavirus period, cleaned and kept in great condition. There are many negative reviews but for me was a good experience.

I stayed here for about one month. The staff was very accommodating. It is highly recommended.

DO NOT STAY HERE! They ask people to leave a good review in return for a reward such as being entered into a competition to win a prize. This is the only reason there are a few good reviews. Management is very poor and is not fully aware of what really happens throughout the building. So bad, that even the staff moan about management themselves. The whole system throughout the building is very very poor. The radiator in my flat kitchen was broken and did not get fixed for 5 months, we did not receive a kettle, iron or ironing board like the building said would be provided alongside countless other errors that occurred. At the near end of my contract, my flat got blamed for countless damages in and around the building which were false but management refused to listen, then the flat did not get the deposits back and instead got evicted from the flat for no good reasoning. After the flat was evicted, we wrote to management to receive contact details to someone who would listen, but this proposal was declined. Management later on said to one of my flatmates that we were not evicted but instead we chose to leave the flat which is NOT TRUE as we all have the eviction email as evidence. Management also said that we cannot be telling people we got evicted as management will get in trouble from their boss in which I hope they do to get new management as the building has so much potential but poor leader. I could sit and write a lot more but I do not want to waste anymore of my time and effort about this deceiving property but just hope that anyone who reads this will have the common sense not to stay here as this message is what I wish I saw before I chose to stay here. In conclusion, the building is toxic and lazy. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
