University of Salford Accommodation

Why Study at the University of Salford?

The Royal Technical Institute, Salford, was created in 1896 as a result of the merging of Salford Working Men's College (started in 1858) and Pendleton Mechanics' Institute (founded in 1850). The Institute was renamed the Royal Technical College, Salford in 1921, then the Royal College of Advanced Technology in 1956, before becoming the University of Salford in 1967.  The University has an overall score of 4.2 stars and offers high-quality education.

Departments and Divisions

The University of Salford offers a plethora of study programmes. They include undergraduate, foundation year, postgraduate, postgraduate research, apprenticeship, degree apprenticeship, pre-sessional, and single module programmes. Undergraduate courses include Creative Computing, Real Estate Development and Management, and Professional Policing, among others. As for foundation year courses, they include Sports Coaching and International Foundation Year. When it comes to postgraduate programmes, many courses are available; they include Advanced Medical Imaging: Mammography Practice, Leadership and Management in Education, Games and Extended Reality…etc. The university also offers many postgraduate research areas; they include Civil Engineering Postgraduate Research, Business, Management and Law, and Acoustics and Audio Postgraduate Research. Apprenticeship programmes include Leadership and Management – Public Sector (Senior Leader Apprenticeship). The degree apprenticeship programme is also available on campus. Its courses include Specialist Practitioner – District Nursing, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Project Management Consultancy…etc. The university also offers a Pre-sessional English programme for those who need it. Single module programmes are taught on campus and they include Tissue Viability, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Anxiety Disorders and Addictive Behaviour, Advanced Procedures, among others. 

Facilities and Resources

There are plenty of facilities and services available on campus that enrich the students’ university experience. These include a students union, cafes and food outlets, a student store, Clifford Whitworth Library, a sports centre, a faith centre, students accommodation, and a park.  Academic facilities available on campus include exercise physiology testing, Bodmer labs, Joule physics laboratories, psychology labs, Gait analysis clinics, counselling centre and service, imaging facilities, prosthetics and orthotics labs, launch @ Salford, civil engineering labs, human performance labs, among many others. 

University of Salford Student Accommodation

The university offers its own accommodation services for students. John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts are within a short walking distance from the university. They offer single rooms with a variety of amenities. The amenities and services include all-inclusive bills, accessibility, a communal games room, an on-site gym, storage space, Wi-Fi, parking, a common social room, laundry facilities, and secure bike storage.
