Why Study at Kingston University London 

Kingston University London traces its roots back to 1899, which is the foundation of the Kingston Technical Institute. At that time, it provided courses in electrical wiring, construction and nursing, and chemistry. 

Gipsy Hill College for Teacher Training, a forerunner of Kingston University, was established in 1917. The Kingston School of Art broke from the Kingston Technical Institute in 1930, ultimately becoming Kingston College of Art in 1945. Gipsy Hill College transferred to Kingston Hill in 1946. The first Penrhyn Road campus buildings were completed in 1951.

In 1957, the Ministry of Education named Kingston a "Regional College of Technology."

The College of Technology and the College of Art combined in 1970 to become Kingston Polytechnic, which offered 34 main courses, 17 of which were degree-level. Kingston and the Gipsy Hill College of Education combined in 1975, with the College's faculty becoming part of Kingston's Division of Educational Studies.

It was granted the Royal Charter to be an independent university in 1992. 

The Guardian University Award for Teaching Excellence was conferred upon the university in 2017. Kingston is a member of the University Alliance, the European University Association, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

According to recently published statistics in 2017, 95% of students who graduated from the university become employed or enrol for higher education six months later.

The university has been producing distinguished and notable alumni since its foundation, including the English singer and actor Ben Barnes, Lawrence Dallaglio, who was the former captain of English rugby union, the English fashion designer John Richmond, the British fashion commentator Caryn Franklin, the British kayak athlete Ed McKeever, the American model and actor Angela Bowie, the English footballer Graeme Le Saux, and the English Product designer Jasper Morrison. 


Departments and Divisions

Kingston University has a solid and strong reputation for high-quality teaching, with the objective of boosting students' skills, transforming their lives, and improving society. Students may choose from a variety of degree programs that represent their preferences as well as the demands of today's workplace. 

The university comprises four schools and faculties, each of which includes a various array of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and disciplines, in addition to undertaking research in related areas. 

The four schools are Kingston School of Art, the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, which combines the School of Law and the Business School, and Social and Behavioural Sciences.
