Since the university does not provide its own accommodation services, Casita offers eight University of Huddersfield International Study Centre student accommodation options as well as Huddersfield student halls. The University of Huddersfield International Study Centre offers preparatory and pathway courses for international students. 

The University of Huddersfield can trace its roots back to a failed attempt to create a Scientific and Mechanics Institution in the area in the 19th century. Before being given university status in 1992 and renamed the University of Huddersfield, it was known as Huddersfield Polytechnic.

In 2017, the university received the inaugural Higher Education Academy Global Teaching Excellence Award as well as a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold Award. In terms of the proportion of its staff with a teaching qualification in 2020, it was tied for the top position in England.

Departments and Divisions

The University of Huddersfield International Study Centre offers several programmes which include International Foundation Year, International Year One, and Pre-Master’s. The International Foundation Year is a two-semester pathway programme that aims at developing your academic knowledge and English language skills and preparing you for the first year of your undergraduate degree. Courses at this programme include Art, Media and Architecture, Business, Management and Law, Engineering, Computing and Science, and Health and Human Sciences. As for International Year One, it is also a two-semester pathway programme that aims at helping you progress to your second year of an undergraduate degree. Courses taught in this programme are Business, Management and Marketing and Engineering and Computer Science. Pre-Master’s is a one-semester programme that helps you prepare for your postgraduate degree; its courses include Business, Management, and Marketing.

Since the Study Centre is located on the University of Huddersfield's campus, students at the Study Centre have access to the facilities provided by the university.
