Founded in 2017, Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) is a large further education college based in Sussex on the south coast of England. It was formed by the merger of Brighton-based City College Brighton & Hove and Worthing-based Northbrook College.
The college operates across five campuses, two in Brighton, two in Worthing, and one in Shoreham. The main campus is at Pelham Street in Brighton and it teaches around 3,500 youth, 1,000 undergraduates, 7,500 adult learners and 800 apprentices throughout the year.
Greater Brighton Metropolitan College offers tens of courses and lessons over multiple types of degrees; these degrees include Access to Higher Education, Adult qualifications and professional courses, and Adult leisure. Hobby courses, Online courses, and courses for international students are also available on campus.
The degrees the college offers include courses like Access to Higher Education, Acting, Art and Design, Barbering, Beauty Therapy, Building Trades, Business & IT, Carpentry and Joinery, Catering & Hospitality, Childcare, and Computing and IT.
Greater Brighton Metropolitan College has a wide range of facilities across its campuses to give students the best learning experience, as well as provide them with the chance to engage in activities during their free time.
These facilities include Libraries with extensive collections of publications, including books, periodicals, DVDs, music and access to various online resources; and computers with access to the internet, MS Office, course-focused specialised software, and the college’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The campuses also have METRO hair and beauty salons, which offer relaxing treatments, therapies and hairdressing services; and cafés and coffee bars with a wide range of reasonably priced meals, snacks and drinks. The Gallery and The Arundel Restaurant are two amazing fine-dining restaurants on-campus.
MET offers its students accommodation in the form of Homestays. Students will be living with British families, which can be perfect for them as it will help them to improve their English and learn about British culture.
All the accommodation options provided are thoroughly checked and monitored with the college in accordance with the standards set out in the British Council’s Accreditation UK Scheme, and they are located within 30 minutes travel distance to the MET.
Homestays come in single rooms and shared bathroom facilities. Twin rooms are available for students travelling together, and students can choose between two options, self-catered and half board.
