Why Study at Munster Technological University?
The Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) was an Irish third-level educational institution in Cork. The institute had 17,000 students (part-time and full-time) studying art, business, engineering, music, drama, and science at the time of its closure. Several times, The Sunday Times University Guide for Ireland selected the institute to be the Institute of Technology of the Year. CIT and IT Tralee merged on January 1, 2021, to form Munster Technological University, Ireland's second Technological University.
Departments and Divisions
Two constituent Faculties and three constituent Colleges make up MTU Cork. Engineering and Science, as well as Business and Humanities, make up the component Faculties. The MTU Crawford College of Art and Design, the MTU Cork School of Music, and the National Maritime College of Ireland are the three constituent colleges.
The Munster Technological University offers different study programmes for students; they include undergraduate, postgraduate, evening and weekend courses, professional development, and hospitality courses. Courses taught at the University include Accounting, Art Therapy, Business, Engineering, Digital Marketing, among others.
Facilities and Resources
The campus offers students an abundance of facilities and services to enrich their learning experience. These include lecture theatres, computer suites, laboratories, workshops, studios, and classrooms. Other amenities include a student centre that has a common room, restaurant, hairdressers, meeting rooms, supermarket, and banks. It also includes a medical clinic, a contemplative space, Students' Union offices, the careers and counselling service, sports and recreation service, and a bookshop. Also available on campus is the Library and Information Technology Centre which has computer laboratories, seminar rooms, and open access computer stations for hundreds of students. Extensive playing fields and sports facilities are also available on campus.
