Birmingham is one of the UK’s major cities and is second only to London in terms of the inner-city population. The city houses multiple Industrial Revolution-era landmarks that speak to its 18th-century history as a manufacturing powerhouse. It’s also home to a network of canals, many of which radiate from Sherborne Wharf and are now lined with trendy cafes and bars. Birmingham is said to be the home of heavy metal with the likes of Black Sabbath (led by Ozzy Osbourne), Judas Priest, and lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Birmingham may feel like a concrete jungle at times, but it's also home to some areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Residents at William Murdoch enjoy their stay due to the building’s ideal location close to all the famous landmarks, hidden gems, and fun activities. The National Sea Life Centre is an exhibit with a variety of sea creatures located 13 minutes away from the building. Canon Hill Park is also 13 minutes away from William Murdoch. Ikon Gallery is an art gallery located 11 minutes away from the premises.

The property is also located in close proximity to several restaurants and food joints, exposing students to different foods and cuisines. Gaucho Birmingham, an Argentinian restaurant, is located six minutes away from the property. Milan is an Indian restaurant also located six minutes away from the building. There is also a McDonald’s located five minutes away from the property. Aldi is a six-minute drive away from the building if students ever need to go grocery shopping. There is also Tesco Express and Sainsbury's Local.

Payment & Cancellation

Payment Terms

Payment Terms

Is an advance rent payment required?
Yes. An advance rent payment is required to secure your booking and is deducted from your first rent instalment. The amount varies by property.

What payment methods are accepted?
Bank transfer, credit card, and debit card.

What payment options are available?
You can choose from:

  • 1 instalment (full payment)
  • 2 instalments (selected properties)
  • 4 instalments
  • 8 instalments (selected properties only)

Some properties offer different instalment options. Please refer to your tenancy agreement for your property's payment schedule.

When are rent instalments due?
Payment dates vary by property. Your tenancy agreement will confirm the exact instalment dates.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy

Can a booking be cancelled shortly after it is made?

Yes. A seven-day cooling-off period applies following the booking confirmation, as long as the keys have not been collected. During this time, a full refund of the deposit and advance rent is available. Specific rules may differ for tenancies located in Wales.

What happens if the cooling-off period has passed?

The tenant is responsible for all rent payments unless a replacement student (who meets the provider's eligibility criteria) is found or a new lease is signed.

How do replacement tenants affect the contract?

If before the start date, the provider may choose to accept the replacement, re-list the room, or use a waiting list. The original tenant is released seven days after this occurs. However, if it’s after the start date, the tenant is released once the new occupant's lease begins. If the room is already moved into, a £50 cleaning and prep fee is deducted.

What if a first-year student misses their university grades?

Under the "No Place No Pay" policy, first-year students can be released if they fail to meet entry requirements or if they switch universities after exceeding their grades. Formal proof (UCAS confirmation or a rejection letter) must be provided within seven days of result publication to receive a full refund.

The above cancellation policy is a synopsis of the property’s cancellation policy. There could be a few changes incorporated from time to time. Hence, we recommend you review the full Accommodation Contract for a comprehensive understanding of their cancellation policies.
