Abbey College Manchester was founded in 1990 and it is a constituent college of the Abbey DLD Group of Colleges, which is in turn part of the Alpha Plus Group of independent schools and colleges. It's located in a modern seven-storey building in the heart of Manchester city centre. Ever since its foundation, the college has become one of the leading providers of independent education in Greater Manchester. It has an excellent record of academic success as well as a strong reputation locally, nationally, and globally for high-quality teaching, strong tutoring and welfare system, and small class sizes. Abbey College Manchester has a very diverse student community from around 25 countries.
The college offers well-equipped and resourced classrooms, suites, laboratories, and studios, and it provides a teaching and learning environment to help students fulfill their aspirations.
Abbey College Manchester educational offering has also expanded since 1990 with the college now offering the following programmes of study: GCSE; A-Level; International Foundation Programme; Combined Studies Programme; Academic Studies with Football Training.
In 2012, the college had a major extension on the ground floor. This comprised a new state-of-the-art ICT suite which includes the latest hardware and software; a new reception centre; meeting room; and visitors’ waiting area.
Another exciting project took place at the college during the summer of 2017. This involved significant expansion of the first and ground floors as well as the basement in order to create additional office space for operations staff and student services, a new study centre, and a new science laboratory. These new facilities were officially opened by Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester.
The college offers a wide range of courses including A-Level courses, One Year Retake A-Levels, Combined Studies Programme, International Foundation Programme, Academic Studies with Football Training, GCSE and IGCSE, British Boarding School Experience, and Abbey Manchester Online Learning. All of these courses are offered in a wide range of subjects as well.
The college has a large study centre, 28 fully equipped classrooms, five state-of-the-art Science laboratories, an art studio, two computer suites, a photography studio with a darkroom, a college nurse with on-site medical facilities, a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and on-site security, CCTV, and secure door access system.
Abbey College Manchester student accommodation consists of 67 single ensuite student bedrooms with a full board. All international students and UK students who do not live in the Manchester area are offered high-quality Abbey College Manchester student accommodation. The accommodation will be arranged and organized according to students' age; whether they're under or above the age of 16.
