Docklands Academy London (DAL) is a non-profit educational institution located in Cubitt Town, London, UK; it’s a modern English Language and Higher Education Academy that is close to London's financial district in Canary Wharf. It offers a unique blend of vocational courses in the hospitality, travel and tourism sector as well as accredited higher education in English language courses blended with expertise in deliverance. DAL’s mission is to provide quality education for future leaders in the world of business and work. It has a number of partnerships with iconic and well-established restaurant groups which operate around London, offering students from Europe and the UK targeted work experience. DAL is accredited by The British Council, BAC, NCC Education, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Study UK, Pearson, USP College, and HOSCO The Hospitality Network.
DAL offers Pearson Accredited Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Hospitality Management and International Travel, Business, and Tourism Management courses as well as Vocational courses in CIEH Food Safety, Gastronomy, and Culinary Arts. English Language Courses are offered from beginner to advanced levels and they include English for Specific Purposes, General English, Preparation for IELTS, and Cambridge English: First (FCE) or Advanced (CAE). English courses are available all year round for adults and students who are 16 years of age or older. It also offers English summer school programmes for groups of children from 10-15 years.
Online interactive English classes can be taken individually or with a group of four students maximum. These classes can be customized to your academic needs and objectives, and you can make your own schedule. The course includes online self-study to provide variety as well as group project work, digital resources and course books, bespoke materials for the levels and needs of each class, and support from teachers.
Courses in DAL are offered in three types which are English Language courses, Higher Education courses, and Vocational courses. English Language courses include General English, IELTS Preparation, Cambridge Exam Preparation (C1 Advanced), and Cambridge Exam Preparation (B2 First). Higher Education courses include BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Hospitality Management, BTEC National Certificate and Diploma in International Travel and Tourism, and BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma in Business. As for Vocational courses, they include Food Safety courses and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts courses.
DAL offers a number of modern facilities for its students to enjoy and enhance their academic experience along with a friendly staff. These facilities include a library which holds up to 2000 books and e-books, research and study groups areas, and computer areas with internet access, IT facilities with access to e-docks (DAL’s Virtual Learning Environment), a conference hall for larger group lectures, classrooms equipped with projectors, laptops, and internet access, and a cafeteria equipped with a TV, CCTV, and internet access. DAL also has wheelchair access for the cafeteria, bathrooms, and classrooms.
Docklands Academy student accommodation is not available; however, the academy arranges student halls London for students through trusted agencies. Students can choose whether to stay in student halls or with a host family. Homestay accommodation is arranged through UKguests, HFS, or Perfect Home Stay with many options including bed and breakfast, self-catering, and half-board. Students halls of residence are arranged through Bethnal Student Living where students will have their own room with shared kitchen facilities for self-catering.
