Hatfield, home to the University of Hertfordshire, is only 20 miles away from north London with direct trains to London King's Cross railway station, Finsbury Park, and Moorgate. It is a popular university town with a population of about 39,201; more than 30% of which are university students. A large number of various types of student residences is available to choose from, whether it's cluster student flats or private studios. The town offers all the possible amenities you might need with a diverse assortment of restaurants to suit all tastes, including Chinese, Indian, Greek, Italian, Tex-Mex, British, and Turkish restaurants.

There are multiple places you can visit in Hatfield. Hatfield House is a fabulous Jacobean mansion built in 1611 with a 40 acres garden. It exhibits a lot of Elizabeth-related artefacts, and its attractive garden is home to various rare plants that you can not find easily in England. Mill Green Mill and Museum is another Hatfield student attraction that you can visit. It was built in the 18th century, and it currently has a schedule of exhibitions on social history, local archaeology, and art. Other famous places include Hatfield Park FarmStanborough Park, and The Old Palace. Moreover, if you are into aeroplanes and industrial history, you can check out the famous de Havilland Aircraft Museum. It hosts various displays of artefacts from before, during, and after the Second World War.

Furthermore, there is a quiet attraction just 15 minutes away from the town, Bayfordbury Observatory; a perfect place to visit if you wish to watch the stars at night. It requires early reservations for groups or solo trips. However, it also holds public open evenings once a month.

Since Hatfield is a small town, public transportations are not as plenty as big cities. However, you can easily cycle around town. Furthermore, the University of Hertfordshire students can benefit from exclusive transportations thanks to the UNO bus company, owned by the university. Various UNO bus lines serve the citizens of the town.
