Also, Malaga has many student accommodation and thousands of international students. Moreover, Malaga has some of the best universities where you can study any branch of science or literature.

  • There are many bus stations near the university, including Paseo del Parque and Victoria.

Student Life in Malaga:

Is Malaga a student city?

Malaga is one of the favourite spots for many international students. Students prefer Malaga for several reasons but mostly for the cheap cost of living. Besides, the University of Malaga is one of the best universities in Spain and Europe to study in. Moreover, the city’s historical and modern vibe, the nightlife, the wide variety of gastronomy, and its perfect size are all some of the various reasons why international students love Malaga.

Cost of living in Malaga:

As we mentioned before, Malaga has a cheap cost of living. It’s notably cheaper than other European countries. A student spends, on average, a budget of about 600 euros per month. However, your lifestyle can vary this amount. The price of food and the day to day in the city is also relatively cheap, unlike other European cities.

What are the best areas to live in Malaga?

The historic centre of Malaga is one of the best places to live for international students. The area is very popular among students. Some other areas to live in, if you are an international student are the El Molinillo neighbourhood and the La Trinidad neighbourhood. The former is located near many universities. However, don’t worry if your accommodation is not located in these areas because you will find the same friendly neighbourhoods almost everywhere in Malaga.

Transportation in Malaga:

Malaga is connected very well via public transportation. The city has buses, commuter trains, and the city-bicycle hire service. You can easily rent a bike or book your bus ride online via Viator. Also, the metro is being tested there but it’s not open for the public yet. Another way of moving around the city is by segway. This modern and unique experience of getting on a segway can only be done with a guide, but it is a fun way to see the sights. Additionally, there are the bike taxis or, as they call them, Trixis. Basically, you sit in a pod-like carriage, which is towed along behind a bicycle. It’s completely covered so Trixis are good for all weather types.

Must-Visit Places in Malaga:

The Alcazaba of Malaga is one of the most well-known spots for tourists in Malaga. It is a palatial fortification that was built by the Hammudid dynasty in the early 11th century. Another place you must visit is the Gibralfaro castle. It is a hill located in Málaga in southeast Spain. It is a 130 m high foothill of the Montes de Málaga, part of the Cordillera Penibética. Both places are spacious and you will love the green landscape there. Another great thing to do in Malaga is to visit the Roman theatre, located at the bottom of the Alcazaba. The theatre’s ruins were only discovered in the 50s and it’s considered to be the oldest sight in Malaga.  It was built in the first century AD by Augustus and was used as a theatre during the 2nd century.
