Hikone is a very interesting city. You can try pottery making in the town of Shigaraki. This town is famous for its pottery and stoneware ceramic products. A must-visit place in Hikone is the national treasure Hikone Castle. This castle is the main landmark of the city. It is considered the most significant historical building in Shiga. This castle is one of only five castles in Japan whose main keep is original and listed as a National Treasure. Another interesting place to visit is the Genkyu-en Garden.
