St Andrews is a historic coastal town in Scotland, famous for its ancient university and stunning seaside views. As a student, you’ll find yourself walking through medieval streets where the campus and town blend together. It is a compact, friendly place where you can easily reach your lectures, the library, or the three beautiful sandy beaches on foot.
The town is known for its ruins, including the 12th-century cathedral and the castle, which offer a peaceful backdrop for afternoon walks or study breaks. The university experience here is shaped by unique traditions that build a strong community. You might see students wearing iconic red gowns for the Sunday Pier Walk or joining "academic families" where older students mentor first-years. One of the most famous events is the May Dip, where students run into the North Sea at sunrise for good luck in their exams.
