DO NOT GO HERE - staff are rude and unwelcoming (baring in mind I’ve moved here from 4 hours away), used to be better when it was liberty hall not unite. The reception is always closed randomly with no warning (usually at lunchtime, so obviously understaffed). It’s a dead social life here too. Choose a more modern newly built hallam accomodation instead over this one- AVOID HERE AT ALL COSTS

Been put in a flat with three other first years directly above a flat of masters students who have made numerous noise complaints against our flat, often on weeknights where we are sat in the kitchen with some quiet music (we are in a lockdown we don’t have any parties) I think this is bad planning on the accommodations part as a mixture of freshers and masters students in one block just doesn’t make sense. We’ve also had to make many maintenance requests (we had no hot water from the taps for about a week, non of the heaters in the flat currently work, my bedroom window isn’t fitted properly making my room damp and cold, damp in my flatmates room which they said to keep the window open for as a solution, the flat was not deep cleaned before we got here with mould covering the shower heads, the kitchen also smells probably from the carpet). We also have no access to the common room, cinema room or study room but still pay the full amount for the accommodation.

The staff are extremely friendly here, always there to help with anything and asks questions about your day, in which they remember and ask how it's going when I next see them. They genuinely listen to all comments and troubles, such as maintenance with the flat and best places to go. I got to know Emily very well at reception, who is very helpful and friendly. The caretakers are also incredible; major problems such as broken hobs or showers take priority of course, however minor problems will be more than likely fixed within 48 hours, from my own experience. Again, the caretakers aren't only brilliant at their job, but they are very friendly and funny. I believe that security should not only be reliable, but trusting, and this accommodation in my opinion is the best compared to other friend's. One security member I would like to bring up is Paul. He works nights, and obviously working in Uni halls at night is a busy night! In addition, he is very friendly and if you have any problems not only regarding your safety, he is there to help. My flat was spacious with sufficient storage, and the bathrooms were quite small but I never had any problems. They use the circuit company for laundry, which many halls use and had many problems with the machines not working, but that was the company's fault. Location wise, the accommodation is fantastic; just under 15 minutes to city campus, three minutes to The Moor and three minutes to West Street. I never used a taxi, as everything was in walking distance. Overall, this accommodation is fantastic and I highly recommend it if you are wanting to go to Sheffield Hallam. It did feel like a second home to me, and the staff made a significant contribution to that.

I've lived here for two years now and recommend it to all of my friends. The flats are spacious and the staff are really helpful. Whenever we've had a problem the on-site staff have sorted it really quickly. I like it so much I've even applied to live here again for my final year!

Great location and great facilities however rooms aren’t very modern, need modernising. Whilst this was Liberty hall under the management of liberty living, the staff were awful bullies who couldn’t do less for you. They victimised those with mental health needs and couldn’t care less about their own residents. Hopefully UNITE have replaced the staff - nothing but respect for UNITE so hopefully they have done the right thing, otherwise I would avoid this building at all costs
