About UniLodge @ UC - UC Lodge

Canberra is Australia’s capital city, it’s known as The Bush capital for its sweeping nature reserves and surrounding mountain ranges. The city got its name from the Ngunnawal people, the original custodians of the land, who for more than 21,000 years considered the Canberra region their home. In their language, Canberra supposedly means “meeting place”.

Good place to live, cheap and convenient for students, but NO air conditioning for summer!! And some of the students are noisy at night there.

I lived here for two years and can say with certainty that it'll be the worst place I'll have ever lived. Poor management, huge lack in support from RAs and staff alike, no sense of community and extortionate prices for such a small space. Low level of care for the well-being and safety of residents, which is displayed by the lack of fire drills and the frequent malfunction of fire alarms. I also experienced this lack of care when a fellow residents threatened myself and a few friends with a knife, and managements only concern was if we had told anyone outside of their company about it. Rooms are constantly in need of repair and maintenance. (which is okay because one of the very few good things about UC lodge is the team doing maintenance). This is worrying considering how new the building is. Very few unilodge events are run throughout the year, meaning there is little to no community life. Plus the events that are run pretty much rely on you wanting to drink. If I could give zero stars I would be.

Room is good and the application/admin process is good, but price of wifi is extortionate ($30 = 10 GB per month!) and there is no cellular reception in the rooms. When it's windy outside, the entire building howls with the wind rushing through the corridors. Parking is also extra ($16 per fortnight). Coin laundry room downstairs equipped with plenty of washers & dryers at $3 per wash & $3 per dry. Studio rooms have a decent size kitchen with stovetop, microwave, and fridge. Rooms have a small wall mounted fan, and radiator heater, but no air conditioner so during the summer the rooms can get very hot!
