Athena Hall is an Ipswich student accommodation providing students with accommodation close to their respective universities and institutions. Athena Hall has a range of en-suite rooms and studios for students to choose from. All units come with a bed, a study area with a desk and a chair, a wardrobe, curtains, shelving, and a private en-suite bathroom. All kitchens at Athena Hall, both private and shared, are fully-equipped and fitted with a ring hob, a combination microwave oven, a fridge/freezer, tub chairs, and a coffee table.

Deposit

To apply for and book a flat or bedroom, you must pay a £100 reservation fee (herein referred to as 'Reservation Rent'). The breakdown of this payment is as follows:

  • £50 for re-bookers (students already living with us who are renewing)
  • £100 for direct let bookings (all new applicants)


Payment Options

 The following payment options for your accommodation fees:

  • One full payment
  • Four instalments


Instalment Payment Details

To pay in instalments, you must provide proof of a UK-based guarantor. If you do not have a UK-based guarantor, you can still opt for instalment payments, but a 5% upfront fee will be applied to your total accommodation fees.


First Instalment Due Date

The first instalment, equivalent to 4 weeks' rent, is due before your tenancy start date. A larger second instalment is due at the end of September.


Payment Dates

All payment dates are clearly outlined in your tenancy agreement. Typically, a portion of your rent is due at the beginning of August.


Consequences of Late Payment

If we do not receive your first rent instalment by your tenancy start date, your booking may be cancelled, and you will not be able to collect your key.


UK Guarantor Requirements

A UK guarantor must meet the following criteria:

  • Be over the age of 25
  • Have a fixed address in the UK
  • Provide proof of address and photo ID


Options Without a Guarantor

If you do not have a UK guarantor, you can choose to:

  • Pay in full upfront without the need for a guarantor
  • Pay in instalments with a 5% upfront fee on your total accommodation fees


Legal Obligations

Your contract with Collegiate is legally binding. If you leave before the contract period ends, you will not receive a reduction in rent.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Window

You will have 3 days from making your booking to sign the Tenancy Agreement. The Reservation Rent is fully refundable if you cancel your booking within this period. If you do not cancel within the 3-day period, we will retain the Reservation Rent.


Tenancy Agreement

Once the Tenancy Agreement has been signed, the Reservation Rent will be held until the first rental payment falls due under your Tenancy Agreement and will be offset against the amount due.


Cancellation Procedure

To cancel your booking, you must inform us in writing by sending an email to the property you booked with.


No Place, No Pay Policy

Eligibility: This policy is only available to first-year undergraduate or first-year postgraduate students.

Conditions:

  • You must inform us within 7 days of receiving your university place rejection.
  • You must provide us with a written rejection letter from your chosen university/college.
  • The final date to submit this evidence is 30th August.

Outcome: If these conditions are met, you can cancel your booking, and we will refund any rent paid.


No Visa, No Pay Policy

Eligibility: This policy is applicable only to first-year undergraduate or postgraduate international students coming to the UK.

Conditions:

  • You must inform us within 7 days of receiving notification that your visa application has been declined.
  • You must provide us with official notification from the visa authorities.
  • The final date to submit this evidence is 30th August.

Outcome: If these conditions are met, you can cancel your booking, and we will refund any rent paid.


Cancellation by Provider

In the unlikely event that the provider has to cancel your booking, they will notify you in writing and provide you with alternative accommodation. If the alternative accommodation is not suitable, you will have the option to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of any rent paid.


General Conditions for Refunds

  • Any refund due will be processed within 14 days of receiving the necessary evidence.
  • This policy does not affect your statutory rights.
  • If you have any extenuating circumstances that prevent you from taking your place at University or your room with us, you will need to provide evidence of your circumstances.


The above cancellation policy is a synopsis of the property’s cancellation policy. There could be a few changes incorporated from time to time. Hence, we recommend you review the full Accommodation Contract for a comprehensive understanding of their cancellation policies.
