Kingston is a student-friendly place. It is a town in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, South West London, England. Throughout history, it was called Cyninges tun in 838, Chingestune in 1086, Kingeston in 1164, Kyngeston super Tamisiam in 1321 and Kingestowne upon Thames in 1589. The name means 'the king's manor or estate' from the Old English words cyning and tun. It belonged to the king in Saxon times and was the earliest royal borough.
Situated in the centre of the town, iQ Kingston provides modern student accommodation in a convenient location. It has hundreds of shops, restaurants, coffee shops and entertainment venues within a few minutes. You can go on a shopping spree at The Bentall Centre shopping mall, or you can enjoy the greenery and the fresh air at the Memorial Gardens. You can also go to Kingston Museum To learn more about the town's history and the life of pioneering photographer Eadweard Muybridge. If games are your cup of tea, you can visit Tenpin Kingston, where you can compete against your friends in bowling, pool, and many arcade games. When you feel the munchies, go grab a bite at any of the amazing restaurants around you, which include Tortilla and Leon. You can also drop by the Sainsbury’s nearby and get all the groceries you need for a warm home cooked meal.
