Galway is a county in the western part of Ireland, in the province of Connaught. The county seat is Galway City, situated on Galway Bay, which operates independently from the county. Galway has the highest number of Irish-speaking residents among all Irish counties, and the Irish College at Spiddal offers facilities for those interested in studying the language. Approximately one-third of the county's residents reside in small villages and towns, apart from the city of Galway.
Galway City is brimming with charm and energy. Positioned on the western edge of Ireland, with the ocean gently touching its borders, it is a breathtaking destination on the Wild Atlantic Way and serves as the gateway to Connemara.
Its historic streets, stunning architecture, and lively centre are perfect for exploration, while various entertainment options will captivate visitors. From live music, poetry, and excellent dining to traditional eateries, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, the city offers a range of high-quality accommodations, from quirky and boutique to contemporary and classic. Galway always entices visitors to make a return visit.
