The University of Liverpool has officially opened its Bengaluru campus in India, welcoming nearly 300 students and becoming the first Russell Group university to establish a campus in Karnataka. The opening marks the university’s first international campus launch in more than 20 years and strengthens educational ties between the UK and India.
The campus offers programmes in computer science, game design, business management, accounting and finance, and biomedical sciences. Its facilities include smart classrooms, laboratories, research and innovation spaces, collaboration hubs, and Bloomberg terminals. The courses focus on practical learning, industry engagement, and developing skills relevant to Karnataka’s growing economy.
The university also plans to expand research and industry partnerships in India. Existing collaborations include the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), alongside a new seed fund with the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru. Additional agreements have been signed with the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bell Integration, and Sai Life Sciences.
The campus is expected to strengthen UK-India collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, research, and innovation while preparing graduates for careers in business, technology, and science. University and government representatives described the opening as a long-term investment in education, talent development, and closer links between the two countries.
