The University of Canterbury (UC) is a public research university located in the heart of Ōtautahi, New Zealand. It was founded in 1873 and is considered New Zealand's second-oldest university. The university is well known for its Engineering and Science programmes. Its Civil Engineering programme is ranked 9th in the world (Academic Ranking of World Universities, 2021). It is recognised by Times Higher Education World University and has a notable place in its ranking yearly. Additionally, it is ranked 258th in the QS World Universities rankings, 2022. The university offers courses in more than 150 subjects. It is home to seven faculties. These faculties are Arts, Education, Business, Engineering, Health, Law, and Science.
