GMIT (Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology) is a third-level institute of education with five locations in Ireland's west. GMIT's campuses are located in Galway City, Castlebar, Letterfrack and Mountbellew. In 2004, 2007, 2015, and 2022, GMIT was awarded the Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year. GMIT also offers two Innovation Hubs and a number of specialised research centres (in Galway and Mayo). GMIT was established in 1972 as Galway Regional Technical College.
Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) offers undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeships, professional development/CPD, and springboard programmes. Undergraduate courses include Accounting, Art, Design and Communication Graphics, Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences, among others. As for postgraduate courses, they include Advanced Biopharmaceutical Science, Cybersecurity Operations, Digital Media and Marketing…etc. The Institute also offers apprenticeships in Manufacturing Engineering. Professional development courses are also offered at the Institute; Applied Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Practice, Applied Leadership and Management in Social Care, Built Environment Regulation are among the courses provided in this programme. Springboard courses include Digital Media and Marketing, Advanced Analytical Chemistry, and Business Analytics.
