Fifteen of the 24 Russell Group universities will take part in two collaborative open day events in China to promote UK higher education and help prospective students and their families learn more about studying in the UK.

The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) is organising the event. It will take place on 24 October at The Langham in Shanghai and on 25 October at CP Grand Hall in Beijing. Some of the participating universities include Newcastle University, the University of Sheffield, the University of Glasgow,  and the University of Nottingham.

The events will focus on future skills and how a research-intensive UK education can prepare students for the global workforce. Academic pavilions covering artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and green futures will showcase university research and introduce students to the knowledge and skills required for emerging careers.

According to the senior advisor for education at CBBC UK headquarters, the initiative responds to demand for a more collaborative approach to student recruitment and feedback, calling for more engaging university experiences. The events aim to provide students and parents with meaningful opportunities to interact with academics, alumni, and employers from different institutions.

The programme will highlight graduate employability, career readiness, employment outcomes, and the long-term value of a UK education, while showcasing the Russell Group's international research reputation and contributions to social and economic development.
