Departments and Divisions

California College of The Arts has four core disciplines in which students can enroll and choose a suitable field of study. These core disciplines are Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, and Humanities and Sciences. Students can apply at CCA for a graduate or an undergraduate degree in one of the available fields, including Film, Animation, Ceramics, Comics, Game Arts, Furniture, Glass, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Interior Design, and Writing and Literature, to name a few. The college also allows students the option to choose a double major. Additionally, a continuing studies programme is also available, and it offers self-development and career-advancing classes and workshops, summer credit courses, and custom programming for companies and organisations.

Facilities and Resources

California College of The Arts has a vibrant campus with a lively atmosphere that caters to all of its students’ needs. This college has an array of different facilities and resources that help nurture its students and give them the right environment to grow in and excel academically, socially, artistically, and professionally. These facilities range from libraries and student advising programmes to on-campus events, exhibitions, and student groups.

Studios and Shops

California College of The Arts provides students with the space, the guidance, the hand-on tools, and the most recent technology to apply what they learn. The college’s creative spaces, whether studios or workshops, are overseen by experienced studio managers and support students’ work in traditional craftsmanship, digital fabrication, and hybrid practises. Students use these studios and shops to collaborate with friends from other programmes and take their own projects in new and inventive directions. There’s a model shop that specialises in foam, plastic, and wood; Dogpatch MFA Studios; and a Digital Craft Lab. 

Youth Programmes

CCA has a number of immersive programmes that allow young students in middle and high school to explore and expand on their artistic talents before heading to college. California College of The Arts nurtures its young artists through a series of workshops and studios, including a Young Artists Programme, a Pre-College Programme, and a Summer Atelier. 

Health and Wellness

California College of The Arts is committed to ensuring all students have the appropriate resources to keep up their health and wellness. CCA offers students the option to purchase health insurance and take advantage of a variety of free wellness workshops, counselling services, and other resources to help them thrive. Professional and confidential counselling is also available free of charge to all students. Counselling can help students cope with personal issues and assist them in meeting the challenges of a creative academic environment. There is individual counselling, crisis intervention, assessments, and tele-mental health services. 

Academic Advising 

CCA has a team of qualified advisors that partner with students to develop and achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Whether they’re undergraduate or graduate students, advisors mainly aim to offer them guidance in tracking their progress, accessing resources, and selecting courses for registration.

Student Groups

There are over a dozen different student groups on the California College of The Arts’ campus. Student organisations contribute to the CCA community at large by involving others to work collaboratively towards a shared goal, while helping to create a more vibrant campus environment. The benefits of joining a student club or an organisation include support from the Office of Student Life; access to an array of resources, including school space, funding, equipment, etc.; sponsored events and receptions; exhibition opportunities in the student galleries; representation on the interclub council; and club/organisation name recognition promoted on the college website and other affiliated social media outlets.

Exhibitions and Events

CCA’s interdisciplinary programming offers more than 150 events and exhibitions each year to support students’ talents and showcase their artistic skills to everyone on campus as well as to the public. Campus galleries are an integral part of the CCA curriculum; students gain professional skills by mounting exhibitions in these galleries and Bay Area visitors get to enjoy new works by students, faculty, staff, and visiting artists in curated spaces that embrace diverse perspectives and a range of contemporary approaches. Online exhibitions and live virtual presentations are also available for both students and the public.

California College of The Arts Student Accommodation

The California College of The Arts sponsors a social, educational, and professional residential programme. The college is committed to helping students settle in and connect with their peers. All students live in an on-campus California residence hall for their first two years at CCA. California College of The Arts Student Accommodation houses transfer, graduate, international, and continuing students. Nearby Universities

California College of The Arts has an ideal location that is in close proximity to several other universities and colleges. Of the numerous nearby institutions, the University of Pacific, San Francisco and the University of California, San Francisco are both within a 30-minute walking distance from campus; the University of San Francisco is a 16-minute drive away; and both Golden Gate University and Academy of Art University are both an 11-minute car ride away.
