Edward Waters College has a long history of educating African Americans and is dedicated to doing so now. 921 undergraduate students are enrolled, making it a small institution. With a 57% acceptance rate, Edward Waters has a somewhat competitive admissions rate. 

It is a member of Florida's Independent Colleges and Universities and has ties to the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Edward Waters University is ranked #76–99 in Regional Colleges South in the Best Colleges 2022–2023 edition.

Departments and Divisions

Eight academic programmes at Edward Waters College grant bachelor's degrees, including the Bachelor of Arts in communication, music, psychology, or criminal justice; the Bachelor of Science in biology; the Bachelor of Elementary Education; and the Bachelor of Business Administration.

Edward Waters College offers popular degrees in elementary education, criminal justice and safety studies, and business.

Facilities and Resources

Numerous student services and facilities are provided by Edward Waters College, including the following:

Centennial Hall

Centennial Hall, which includes the Obi-Scott-Umunna Collection of African Art, is the oldest facility on campus. It was constructed in 1916 and included on the National Register of Historic Places on May 4, 1976. The hall also includes the Edward Waters University Library. West and Central African works of art and artefacts are also present in the library.

Athletics

The Tigers and Lady Tigers are the names of Edward Waters' athletic teams. Since the 2021–22 academic year, the university has been a provisional member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), where it predominantly competes. The university is also a member of the NCAA Division II rankings. 

Edward Waters participates in 16 intercollegiate varsity sports, including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, track & field (indoor and outdoor), volleyball, and softball. Women also participate in competitive cheerleading, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and other sports.
