Why Study at East Carolina University?

In 1907, East Carolina University was founded with the purpose of training teachers. It was designated as a university in 1967 and has grown significantly ever since. Three campuses make up ECU: the Main Campus, the West Research Campus, and the Health Sciences Campus. On each site, there are smart classrooms that have been technologically improved.

The institution also operates a field station in New Holland where researchers look at ecotourism, management of coastal resources, and coastal biology. East Carolina University's acceptance rate is 88%.

ECU is now the only public university in the state with a dental school, a medical school, and a college of engineering, providing nearly 29,000 students with a wide range of opportunities. East Carolina University's ranking is #234 nationally in the 2022–2023 edition of Best Colleges.
