Colorado Mesa University, a comprehensive regional public higher education school that was founded in 1925, offers master's, bachelor's, associate's, and certificate-level liberal arts, professional, and technical programmes. Colorado Mesa University is also famed for its graduate programmes.

The college, which was formerly known as Mesa State College, became a university in August 2011 and changed its name to Colorado Mesa University. The institution also has regional campuses in Montrose, Colorado, and Bishop, which is northwest of Grand Junction and home to Western Colorado Community College. 

Colorado Mesa University's ranking is 12th in Regional Colleges West in the Best Colleges 2022–2023 edition.

Departments and Divisions

The five levels of degrees offered by Colorado Mesa University include technical certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and professional doctorates. More than 70 undergraduate programmes are available to the school's students, who now number over 10,000. The most popular courses are those in business, biology, and criminal justice.

Facilities and Resources

  1. Dominguez Hall

The Davis School of Business and the Center for Teacher Education are currently based out of Dominguez Hall. In addition to having a number of classrooms, this complex also features faculty offices, a coffee shop, a board room, small study rooms, big semi-circle lecture halls, and open study areas (both indoors and outside).

  1. The University Centre

The main campus food options, including the Dining Hall, Bookcliff Cafe, Starbucks Coffee, and a small convenience shop, are all housed in the University Centre. The centre also houses the MAV Card Office, the Student Life office, which holds several club offices, the Associated Student Government, The Criterion school newspaper, Bookstore, the Ballroom, and student lounges.

  1. The Maverick Centre

Except for football and baseball, all athletic facilities are situated in the Maverick Centre. The Monfort Family Human Performance Lab, El Pomar Natatorium, Hamilton Recreation Center, and Brownson Arena are among the facilities. Walker Field, a soccer and lacrosse field, the Elliot Tennis Complex, Bergman Softball Field, and the Maverick Pavilion are all close to The Maverick Center.

Colorado Mesa University’s athletics team are known as the Mavericks. 

  1. Moss Performing Arts Centre

The Theatre and Music Departments are located in Moss and present a range of entertainment for the campus and area throughout the year. It gives students of music, dance, and theatre the resources they need to express their creativity. It houses Recital Hall, the Walter Walker Reception Area, the Mesa Experimental Theatre, the William S. Robinson Theatre, a design studio, many music-practice rooms, smart technology classrooms, faculty offices, and a dance studio.

  1. Tomlinson Library

The library was hailed as an architectural masterpiece by American School and University magazine. Over 190,000 books, including a sizable collection of government records and a geology library, are now stored in Tomlinson Library.

Colorado Mesa University Student Accommodation

There’s an on-campus Colorado Mesa University student accommodation. Currently, more than 2,000 students are housed on campus in eleven residential halls that include conventional rooms, suites, pods, and flats. The average housing cost is around $11,522 per year.
