The National Mathematics and Science College is a co-educational pathway institution that was founded in 2016 by Dr Martin Stephen and Geoffery Robinson. It offers students ages 15 to 19 a "rich, well-planned, and broad curriculum” in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) topics. It was rated “Outstanding” in the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and sixth form provision. It is one of the best STEM colleges in Coventry.
The National Mathematics and Science College has four programmes: Pre-A-level Programme, A-level Programme, Preparation for Medicine Programme, and Fast Track A-level Programme. The Pre-A-level is a Programme that prepares non-English speakers for the two-year A-Level programme. It lasts for one academic year in which students study Mathematics, Biology, English…etc. The A-Level Programme prepares students for their university entry. A minimum of four topics are taught in this programme; they include Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics...etc. The Preparation for Medicine is a pathway programme provided for students who wish to major in Medicine. It focuses on developing evidence of excellence in the key areas necessary for a successful medical application. As for the Fast Track A-level Programme, it lasts for one year and is designed specifically for students who show the ability to complete A-levels in one year.
The college offers many amenities and services. These include a dedicated staff, an on-site student accommodation, enrichment activities and societies, a nearby Xcel Leisure Centre, a reception area with a Steinway grand piano, a common room with guitars, counselling, and medical care. All these services are accessible to students at the college.
The college has its own accommodation building. It has comfortable en-suite bedrooms, large communal areas, shared common rooms, shared kitchens, and a large canteen for in-house catering. The bedrooms are well-sized and they include a double bed, a private bathroom, a study area with a desk, ample storage, and large windows to enjoy the views.
