History & Background
Queen’s University Belfast is the 9th oldest university in the UK. It is a member of the Russell Group and was first established as a non-denominational alternative to Trinity College Dublin. Queen’s University Belfast was founded in 1845 by queen Victoria as a college and became a university in 1908. It’s now an international academic destination and research centre for 24,000 students from all corners of the globe. The university is made up of over 300 buildings, with the Lanyon building being the main one. Charles Lanyon designed the university with a goal in mind which is reflecting the culture and life of that time and some of the medieval era. Lanyon succeeded in achieving his goal as Belfast University Hall is one of the most beautiful masterpieces in the city. With all the effort and thoughts put into this impressive building, this Hogwarts lookalike university is always catchy for all passers’ eyes.
