Columbia International University is a multidenominational Christian university that educates people from a biblical world-view to impact the nation with Christ's message. Its educational units provide degree programmes from the associate to doctoral levels. Spiritual formation, mastery of biblical content and interpretation skills, cultivation of a biblical world-view, ministry skill development, and vocational competency are all emphasised in all postsecondary programmes. The faculty seeks to balance challenges to students' heads (intellectual inquiry), hearts (spiritual formation), and hands (practical ministry skills).

CIU serves students from over 40 states and over 30 countries, with the majority coming from five Southeastern states. The faculty and student body represent more than 52 church denominations and independent fellowships. CIU graduates work in vocational Christian ministries and the marketplace, with approximately 25% working in cross-cultural contexts.

Departments and Divisions

CIU has five colleges: the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Counselling, the College of Education, the College of Intercultural Studies, and the Seminary & School of Ministry. Because of the institution's close-knit structure and the emphasis on Christian education and biblical studies regardless of major, several of the colleges share faculty members.
