Academic Coaching

Academic Coaches are available for Austin Community College students to help them navigate college life and their shifting priorities. They mainly aim to help students succeed by focusing on their personal academic goals and giving them the tools needed to reach them. Academic Coaches focus on teaching students the basic skills they need to succeed, including time management, test-taking, note-taking, organisation, self-discovery, goal identification and planning, and motivation among others.

Transportation

Austin Community College makes sure to provide its students, faculty, and staff with the necessary tools to easily navigate the city during their study or work period at the college.  ACC students enrolled in credit classes or Adult Education classes are eligible for a free transit pass for Capital Metro’s busses, trains, and new rideshare program called Pickup. ACC students, faculty, and staff also have access to Car Share and can join Zipcar for free with a $15 annual membership fee. Cars can be reserved for as little as an hour or for multiple days. Bike racks are available at all campuses with Bike Repair Stations being available at select ACC campuses.

Mental Health Counselling

Austin Community College has a mental health counselling centre that’s dedicated to helping students through any issues affecting their mental wellbeing. ACC Counsellors are licensed professionals with Master’s and Doctoral degrees who have been trained to provide guidance and potential solutions to emotional and psychological difficulties. Students facing any difficulties or those who are generally in need of mental health counselling can book a telephone or an in-person appointment with a professional.

The Office of Student Life (SL) is the ‘Classroom Without Walls’ because it mainly aims to provide students with outside-of-the-classroom co-curricular opportunities that transform their student experience into a more beneficial and holistic one.
