Why Study at the University of Gloucestershire?

The University of Gloucestershire is a public university that was formerly known as Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education. The university is the most recent successor to a slew of merged, renamed, and reformed institutions of higher learning. It has an approximately two-hundred-year history.

It arose from the integration of two independent strands of educational provision in Gloucestershire: that provided by the local government and that established by the Anglican Church. In its Church history, the university may be traced back to the Cheltenham Mechanics' Institute, founded in 1834, and to the Reverend Francis Close's Cheltenham Training College, founded in 1847. In 1990, the two components were combined to form Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education. The college was granted university status in October 2001.

The university has three campuses: The Park, Oxstalls, and Francis Close Hall.
