How is rent paid?

Rent is paid monthly in advance in 12 equal instalments as stated in the tenancy agreement, or alternatively as a single full payment at the start of the tenancy.

Can rent be paid by bank transfer?

Yes. Rent must be paid by direct bank transfer using the bank account details provided in the rental agreement. Any alternative payment options are also outlined in the rental agreement.

Are there any extra fees I have to pay?

There is a one-off, non-refundable €50 fee to cover administrative costs associated with processing the application to live in the accommodation.

Can I sublet my room for the summer?

No. Subletting is not allowed during the contract period.

Can I move out early?

Yes, provided you find a replacement tenant for your room. You must contact the residence support team to discuss the details.

• You may cancel a student accommodation contract within 14 days of signing if the apartment was not viewed before signing, under Section 355 of the German Civil Code (BGB). No reason is required.
• Cancellation must be made in writing (post, fax, or email) and must be received within the 14-day period at the specified Frankfurt address.
• If you cancel within this period, all payments made will be fully refunded within 14 days of receiving the cancellation notice, using the same payment method unless otherwise agreed, and no fees will be charged.
• If you have already moved into the property before cancelling, you must pay a proportional amount of rent for the period you occupied the accommodation, calculated up to the date you notified the cancellation.
• Within the 14-day withdrawal period, cancellation is allowed without penalty except for payment covering actual occupancy time (if applicable).
