Cornell University, located in Ithaca, New York, is a private Ivy League and statutory land-grant research university. Cornell University was founded in 1865 by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White with the intention of teaching and making contributions in all fields of knowledge—from the classics to the sciences, and from the theoretical to the applied.

The university also oversees three campuses, two in New York City and one in Qatar's Education City.

Cornell is one of the country's few private land-grant universities.

Three of its seven undergraduate colleges, including its agricultural and human ecology colleges, are state-supported statutory or contract colleges through the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Only the veterinary college is a state-supported graduate school at Cornell. Cornell, as a land grant college, has a cooperative extension outreach programme in each county of New York and receives annual funding from the State of New York for certain educational missions.

At its main Ithaca campus, the university is divided into seven undergraduate colleges and seven graduate divisions, with each college and division defining its own admission standards and academic programmes.

Cornell University admissions are the most selective, with an 11% acceptance rate. Half of the Cornell University applicants have an SAT score between 1400 and 1540 or an ACT score between 32 and 35. However, one-quarter of admitted applicants received scores that were higher than these ranges, while the other quarter received scores that were lower. Cornell University's application deadline is January 2, and the application fee is $80.

Cornell University admissions officials consider a student's GPA to be a critical academic factor. When available, an applicant's high school class rank is considered important, and letters of recommendation are very important to Cornell University admissions officials.

Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, has over 1,000 student organisations ranging from the Big Red Marching Band to the International Affairs Society. First-year students live together on the north campus, and upperclassmen and graduate students have housing options, though many choose to live off campus. Cornell has a vibrant Greek community, with over 60 fraternity and sorority chapters. Cornell has 35 varsities NCAA Division I teams that compete in the Ivy League.

The application deadline for Cornell University Admissions is Jan.2, the Application Fee is 80$, and the acceptance rate is 11%.
