Unite student accommodation group plans to build new purpose-built student accommodation in Nottingham, near the University of Nottingham - Jubilee Campus. It will be adjacent to Derby Road and Radmarsh Road, popular student destinations for shopping.

Once they receive permission from Nottingham City Council, Unite landscape architects intend to retain a car showroom garage on Triumph Road and demolish another two buildings to lodge a three, five and six-storey building across two blocks. This building will have a capacity of approximately 690 student beds.

The Nottingham student home will be divided into three sectors: a civic building marking the corner of the site on Triumph Road, a student accommodation house on Radmarsh Road, and another separate one on Derby Road with an extensive communal courtyard.

“The civic building demarcates the corner of the site and provides an offer outside of purpose-built student accommodation that can be utilised by the wider community.” Said Unite representative.

The communal area will be established on the ground floor, granting students a destination for all within the accommodation. Furthermore, Pedestrian access around the building, Unite applicant stated, will contribute to the success of the plan. It allows a broader section to use and access the site, hence creating a unified community.
