Best Western Plus Sands

The location on English Bay is fantastic for visiting Vancouver. We were able to walk to Stanley Park and explore the sea wall and beach. It is also an easy walk to downtown. There are lots of great inexpensive restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as a grocery store a block away. The hotel rooms are updated and very comfortable. Best of all the staff were very friendly and helpful and knew the area well. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I am in Vancouver.

When checking in I mentioned that I was celebrating my birthday this weekend and Tina at the front desk was kind enough to upgrade my room - thank you so much! The staff completed our requests in a timely manner and were very hospitable. The location is ideal as the beach, restaurants, and cafes are just a couple steps away. I would most certainly stay here again.

Enjoyed our two night stay at this conveniently located hotel near English Bay. Close to many restaurants, bars and coffee shops offering a wide range of international cuisines. The beach and shoreline walks/bike paths are around the corner. Our partial sea view room was very clean, well appointed, and modernly equipped.

The hotel certainly isn't a 4 star hotel but the service, location and value make it a 4-star review.

The one major issue we had was that the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work. It was a bit noisy when someone would pass by our room. Also it was raining one of the nights and the rain kept hitting the window AC unit which was quite loud and annoying. Other than that the staff were friendly, they have a convenient restaurant and accompanying lounge and there were good happy hour deals and was open very late.

They could also have a better cable package.

When we saw that a previous reviewer was provided a laminated photograph of Nicolas Cage, we knew that this was the hotel for us. But then the question arose, who did we want a photograph of? It took a while to settle on Bateman, but as you can see from the picture below we definitely made the right decision. When we arrived in our room, he was sitting smiling on our bed. A warm welcome indeed. The room was very comfortable and warm. The hotel has a good location, just a short walk from the beach. The staff at reception were helpful and friendly and willing to accommodate even the strangest special requests :-D. We would happily stay here again!
