The staff are really nice and make my living experience so much better as they are keen to help with any questions or concerns I may have. Since moving here I have made strong friendships with my flat mates and will be continuing to live with one next year. We have really made our flat a home and the proximity to uni is perfect. The events that the team puts in really boost everyone’s day, especially the smoothie event which allowed us to obtain some much needed vitamins. Overall, my experience at snow island is extremely positive and I would recommend living here to any students. -Lucy Manning
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjXwMqVJ2unUy1qphh7WtwO9mTIwwOQr-rVkaP3vIQpq3skEU2eC=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo-ba3
5
Overall a really good place to live in Huddersfield. I stayed here for all three years of my degree and so stayed in several different rooms. Snow Island is located close to the Uni making it a very easy commute to lectures. The rooms are overall of a good quality, with the flats being a mix of sizes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, this was part of the reason I decided to stay for 3 years. They’re always happy to help out and it was useful having them there to help sort out any issues. Maintenance issues were usually resolved quickly. There is a courtyard and a common room, meaning there is space to socialise if you want.

There were only a few negatives during my stay at Snow Island. The reception isn’t open at weekends, meaning you can’t receive post on Saturdays. The new rooms, although overall good, do have a few design flaws that make them not perfect. The kitchens, in a 4 person flat, are set up for 3 people. With three chairs, three freezer drawers and only three spots on a sofa. This means it isn’t so great if all 4 flatmates want to socialise in the kitchen together. I did have some issues with my room due to the recent room upgrades, I reported these and they were fixed eventually but not quickly.

These issues are very minor and overall I would highly recommend staying at Snow Island!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocI_jUnMusLO88QsbqLtysSlyxOx35UlqgMTGWPoNB_9iY57cA=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo
4
Moving into a newly refurbished flat has been refreshing and the new rooms are stunning! The colours together in the room are soft against the eyes and a nice match against each other! The beds have been comfy to sleep on and the extra storage places in the room have been very useful! The bathroom is a good enough space as it’s not to small to be cramped but not too big either, which is fine by me! The shower however, especially the drain, keeps getting clogged so when I shower, the water doesn’t drain quickly! I do get maintenance done but the problem will keep occurring. The kitchen is a nice spacious area and an enjoyable place to cook food as well as enjoy food! The reception staff and cleaners are very friendly and nice to talk to!
