We always get notified if there is going to be an maintenance work being done, for example: we recently had our shower heads cleaned as to ensure there was no limescale, and we have also had furniture upgrades in the shared spaces (e.g we have a new sofa.) The management team have been super helpful regarding my proof of study, as I'm still waiting on my university to send me it, and the management team have been really understanding of that. The booking experience went smoother than I thought it would, considering this was the first time I've applied for any kind of accommodation myself. Everything was made clear, such as which room types were available, which rooms themselves were available, the layout of the accommodation, how much I owed as a down payment, and what would happen with that down payment regarding the first lot of rent. I like how on the resident portal you can pay your rent in advance, because it gives me piece of mind that I have definitely paid it, as my anxiety can get overwhelming around big payments like rent. The moving in experience also went smoothly, as I was welcomed with a goodie bag and showed directly to my room. I was given important information such as when the weekly fire drills were, where to go in case of a fire, where the bins are, where and how you do your laundry and how to access mail\/post. The duration of parking during your move in period is a good length of time too as it ensures you have plenty of time to get all of your things from the car and to your dorm. The welcome events were super fun, for example I attended a sip and colour evening hosted in the reception, and it helped me to make a friend within my first couple of weeks living in the accommodation. I like the location of Alexandra Works, as I prefer a quieter environment when I am at home, and it is perfect here. Not only that, but there is a Tesco express not even 2 minutes away, and a pure gym next door. I love how big the windows are as it allows alot of natural light into the room, helping to make the room feel brighter. The room sizes are good, and I love the size of the desk as it is massive but it doesn't make the room feel small. The ensuite is also a great size, and the accommodation in general comes with all the basics you need, such as a hoover, ironing board, mop etc. Overall, I really recommend Alexandra Works due to all the factors already mentioned, but as it is also a great value for the price you pay!!","time":"1791826555","created_at":"2026-11-01 12:59:16","updated_at":"2026-11-01 12:59:16","deleted_at":null,"deleted_by":null},{"id":17801,"build_id":"82283","author_name":"Hollie Lister","author_url":"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/contrib\/115862418733595632680\/reviews","language":"en","profile_photo_url":"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/a-\/ALV-UjX-kJIJq9WgXAX96lONngK-GiyYNIQS2U0W4bDd2zdsLAS4gvg=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo","rating":"5","relative_time_description":"a year ago","text":"My application process for accommodation has been a stressful time for me, due to no fault of the accommodation itself but because of other factors. I\u2019m an international student with no contacts in Plymouth, booked Alexandra works with lot of worries, as the culture and place is totally different from India.! Initially was in a greater dilemma of whether I like the place or not as I can never tolerate untidy place! It was normal room with clean space and lot of storage at reasonable price with all amenities nearby. I reached here at 3am and got a warm welcome at that time, was a good first impression. All the staffs was so good, especially Galini. Every maintenance troubles will be sort out soon, So never happened any terrible situation. I even lost my phone through the gap of the lift and asap they sorted and get my phone back. Also got really good roommates, after all it was a place with lot of memories for me.
