Isn't Leicester a boring city with nothing going on? Wrong! Leicester is a humming, happening hub of activity with a long history of being fascinating. So here are some interesting facts about Leicester that you should know if you want to live at Pannell House student housing. Leicester had multiple railway stations. Leicester Central railway station, located west of the city centre, opened in 1899 as part of a line connecting London Marylebone to Nottingham. However, after decades of operation, the station began to deteriorate and was ultimately deactivated in 1969.

Other long-gone railway stations in Leicester include Campbell Street Station, West Bridge Station, Belgrave Road Station, and Humberstone Road Station, as older Lancastrians may recall. West Bridge Station was on the Leicester and Swannington Railway, one of the world's first railway lines designed by Robert Stephenson, the son of railway pioneer George Stephenson.
